The Awards: Too Good To Go – best mobile app in Spain in 2019
TheAwards 2019 is the second edition and it is the second time when we actively participate in this event, being one of the key partners of the organizers – Pickaso and TheTool. Last year, Evgeny Predein – CEO & Co-founder was a jury member to select the best mobile app in Spain 2018 and this year we decided to sponsor the event and offer a prize to the winner of the “best mobile app in Spain” award, such as free software architecture consultancy day with Apiumhub and free software architecture course/workshop in Apium Academy.
Quick reminder, what is TheAwards?
TheAwards gather more than 300 mobile app professionals to reward the best Spanish mobile apps and games on iOS and Android in 2019. After the success stories and the discussion panel, the participating apps are presented and the awards are handed over by categories. There are 11 of them:

All the awarded apps and games are offered a reward package, with a total value of more than 160.000 euros for the 11 awards all together. The packages are made of services offered by different companies, such as Amazon Web Services, AppLift, AppsFlyer, AppSamurai, iSocialWeb, Tappx, Acumbamail, SysAdminOk, PickASO, TheTool, Wwwhatsnew, Mobile World Capital, Remerge, Edrans, ApiumHub, Apium Academy and others.
To be able to participate, apps should meet two key requirements: they need to have headquarters in Spain and to have more than 5.000 downloads on App Store or on Google Play.
TheAwards 2019
On Thursday, October 24 the second edition of TheAwards took place in Barcelona organized by PickASO and the TheTool. This year there were 4 members in the jury:
- Elia Méndez, Managing Director at the Mobile Marketing Association in Spain (MMA Spain)
- Octavi Royo, CEO of the photography app AGORA Images, winner of the 1st edition of TheAwards
- Ricard Castellet, COO of Barcelona Tech City
- Caroline Ragot, CPO of OneBox Ticket Distribution System
The winners of the 2nd edition of TheAwards were chosen by the jury based on usability, design, product, originality and marketing criteria.
These are the apps that won the TheAwards 2019:
1.Mascoteros: Best Shopping App in Spain of 2019
Mascoteros is the first Spanish mobile marketplace dedicated exclusively to the world of pets. It is a unique community with more than 300 professional sellers in the sector that has 40,000 products from more than 700 brands. The objective of the app is to accompany users at all stages of caring for their pets and respond to the needs and questions they may have.
2. MonkingMe: Best Creativity and Productivity App 2019
MonkingMe is the only music app with which users can listen and download music for free and in a legal way.
3. Bnext: Best App for Economy, Finance and Business 2019
Bnext is a financial app where users can centralize their entire financial life. The app offers an alternative to banking so that users can create an account without a bank (100% mobile) that gives you back the commissions that others charge you. Through the app users can: create an account, send and receive money, control expenses, rewards program and marketplace.
4. Nannyfy: Best App for Education and Magazines in Spain of 2019
Nannyfy is the first app in Spain that connects families with validated and fully trusted Nannys, offering on-demand and recurring services. Nannyfy validates all nannys who want to be part of the community through a strict interview.
5. Eltenedor: Best Food and Drink App in Spain of 2019
eltenedor is the app to book leading restaurants in Europe, Australia and Latin America. The app allows you to enjoy exclusive promotions of up to 50% and be inspired by more than 17 million opinions from other users. Through the app users find the perfect place for every occasion, checking their availability in real time and booking in a few seconds. In addition, it allows you to discover the gastronomic offer of any city by consulting a detailed file of each restaurant with photos, suggestions of dishes and opinions of other customers who have already tried it.
6. Fotocasa: Best Lifestyle App in Spain of 2019
The Fotocasa app is aimed at users looking for a home for sale or rent and for those who want to sell or rent their home. It has useful tools that facilitate the search for housing such as «draw on the map», heat maps to know which areas are the most expensive or cheap to live or also has a chat that facilitates communication almost instantly between the user and the advertiser. In addition Fotocasa is the only real estate portal in Spain that has integrated chat in its app, in addition to creating search alerts or price drops.
7. Blablacar: Best Mobility and Travel App in Spain of 2019
BlaBlaCar is the platform that puts users in touch to share the costs of a common car journey. It currently has more than 5 million users in Spain and a new connection algorithm for small towns. BlaBlaCar currently has more than 73,000 monthly meeting points in Spain.
8. Ourtime: Best App of Social Networks and Appointments in Spain of 2019
Ourtime is the application for singles over 50 who want to meet people who share the same interests and way of seeing life. Through the application, users receive recommendations of profiles of like-minded people in a quiet and safe environment. The app also allows the possibility of meeting other members in one of their organized activities, where they bring together people with similar interests.
9. Telefarmacia App: Best Health and Wellness App in Spain of 2019
The application allows the user to order medications or pharmacy products, and receive them comfortably at home. To make an order, the user only has to take a photo of his or her prescription and the app team is in charge of going to the pharmacy for the medication to deliver it in the indicated direction. In case of buying medicine that doesn’t require a prescription, the only thing that has to be done is – indicate the name of the product and the app takes care of the rest.
10. Gladiator Heroes: Best Game in Spain of 2019
This is the first video game developed by a Spanish company, Genera Games, which includes characteristics of a strategy, fight and management game of cities and resources. The most outstanding functionality is the multiplayer mode as it has allowed millions of players from around the world to play with each other and form clans and communities. The game is not exclusively multiplayer since the player can also play against the AI.

It connects has an absolutely brilliant idea that keeps changing the world, making it a better place to live. It connects users with delicious unsold food from a variety of shops and restaurants all over Europe. By downloading their app, you join the world’s largest community of waste warriors! It is a very simple and cost effective way for you and your family to fight food waste, while also getting something delicious in return!
Through the app for mobile devices, it allows restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, fruit shops, bakeries, among other establishments, to sell their daily food surplus and that users can save surprise packs with that quality food at a reduced price. Through it, everything that is left over at the end of the day in these stores is prevented from being wasted.
Food waste is a huge global issue, with one third of all food produced being wasted, landfill is overflowing and our environment is really suffering the consequences. And it’s not just about the food itself, it’s all the resources that went into producing the food, the land, the water, the labour. It’s a sad state of affairs and Too Good To Go team is on a mission to inspire and empower everyone to take action!
Having started in Denmark in November 2015, they have expanded to 11 further countries – with more on the way! Just download the app (available on iOS and Android), find a restaurant near you, order food at great prices and head to the restaurant to collect it about 30 minutes before closing time. It’s super easy, good for the environment and helps your pocket, too!
