About the Reinforcement Learning Workshop for business

You have probably heard about AlphaGo, the model that broke all the world records in a game as complicated as Go, or the autonomous cars trained following this type of model. Reinforcement Learning has positioned itself over time as one of the artificial intelligence techniques to solve business problems and as an important area of advanced research in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Reinforcement Learning, as David Silver (principal research scientist at Google DeepMind) says “could constitute a solution to artificial general intelligence“.

In this course you will learn from the basic concepts to the critical points of the implementation in production, focusing on different real use cases. Always from a didactic, functional, and very understandable point of view to be able to be activated within different industrial sectors.
The sessions include presentations from industry leaders in innovation and business.

Designed with a strong functional focus without neglecting the important technical challenges and concepts, this course is focused for different profiles:

– CTOs, CIOs and CDOs
– Organizational leaders such as program managers, data strategies, enterprise architects who are responsible for implementing the execution of data and Artificial Intelligence departments.

Certificate: After finishing the course, the student will receive a Completion Certificate.

Workshop Language: The workshop will be entirely in Spanish.

Teachers

Alberto Hernandez - Head of AI at BBVA Innovation Labs

Alberto is a passionate innovator with extensive experience in the fields of AI research and videogames, lucky to have managed great teams in some of their top companies. After his early years as a Knowledge Engineer at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (AI Labs – FI) and Telefónica I+D, he spent the latest AI winter in the video games industry (EA, Zinkia), during which he shifted his attention to connectionist AI.

The AI team he manages in BBVA Innovation Labs since 2016 has the mission to accelerate the adoption and industrialization of Machine Learning in real use cases. They explore, acquire and share hands-on experience on cutting-edge AI technologies (Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning or AI ethics).

His current research is focused on how emotions could naturally emerge and benefit Reinforcement Learning agents.

Javier Abascal - Lead Data Engineer at Facebook

Javier is a senior Data Engineer with experience on dealing with massive amounts of data to meet a purpose. In his career he has worked from small to big organizations and his background is a mixture of engineering and business. This combination has allowed him to work during several years on the implementation of all type of machine learning projects

At the moment, Javier is working at Facebook, leading the WhatsApp Data commerce team.

Gema Parreño - Data Scientist Lead at Apiumhub

Gema is a Lead Data Scientist at ApiumHub. She began into the technology industry with the 3D animation and video game industry, eventually founding her own startup. In 2016, Gema and her team successfully presented their award-winning project Deep Asteroid in NASA’s Space App Challenge competition.

Gema Parreño’s technological interests expanded during her time working at BBVA, as part of the bank’s commitment to the Data and Analytics sector. Gema’s career has always had a central element of interest: reinforcement learning & study and implementation of large language models. It has been one of the pillars of her contributions to the DeepMind project and her latest project Mempathy, a narrative experience focused on conversation with AI.

Gema has been recognized by Business Insider as a member of its list of young leaders of the technological revolution, under 35 years old.

David Suárez - Data Scientist at Apiumhub

David has worked as a Data Scientist for 5 years in the areas of Deep Learning especially focused on Reinforcement Learning applications for BBVA Innovation Labs & also robotics applications with this field and open source contributions benchmarking reinforcement algorithms. David has a Master on Big Data & Data Science at U-TAD.

He has also worked as lecturer for different universities like University of Seville or ISDI Business School.
