Navigating Knowledge: Optimising communication and documentation
Workshop Topics covered:
As a technical professional you create, use, and share knowledge all day long. Imagine if you could find the information you need easily, consume it with less effort, and generally be more productive. With estimates of knowledge workers spending 30% of their time just looking for the information they need it is vital that you optimise your knowledge management, creation, and sharing to claw back that time for the important work you do.
Join this workshop to discover:
– how to organise knowledge for personal, team, and organisational use so that it can be found easily
– how documentation-as-code principles can be applied to all documentation to reap the benefits
– effective practices for documenting your architecture so that it is useful and accessible
– how to make your documentation more accessible to the reader
– how to work with others to raise the bar on knowledge and documentation
– how to optimise your time when creating architecture artefacts
– how to create documentation that is aligned to your audience to optimise communication
Learn practical ways that you can optimise your knowledge and documentation, even as an individual contributor.
Notes
This interactive workshop will enable participants to:
– organise knowledge using PARA, products over projects, and storage methods and tools
– start using, or make more effective, practices such as ADRs and architecture characteristics in their architecture designs
– use techniques such as abstractions over text and considering the audience to create more accessible documentation and artefacts
– employ techniques such as getting feedback early and sharing the load to improve documentation and knowledge management with others
– optimise their time and work by using the just-in-time method for creating architecture designs
– align their documentation to the audience using perspective-driven documentation
– apply documentation-as-code principles to all documentation to gain the benefits of this technique throughout their documentation
